Project in Progress
Sewage sludge incineration plant Dürnrohr
The Dürnrohr thermal waste utilisation plant was built by EVN Abfallverwertung and has been in operation since 2004. Valuable experience and developments from the construction and operation of the plant have already been incorporated into new incineration projects in order to recycle waste and sewage sludge in the best possible ecological and economic way.
The existing pyrolysis plant is being rebuilt into a sewage sludge incineration plant.
Autothermal incineration of the sewage sludge is ensured by adding highly caloric refuse derived fuels. The combustion waste heat is made available for utilisation in a steam boiler and distributed at the “heat node” Dürnrohr in the form of electricity, process steam and district heat, thus replacing fossil energy sources.

- 20.000 t/a utilised sewage sludge
- 6.000 - 12.000 t/a refuse derived fuel
- 5 MW fuel heat output
